Oliver Gorton – Assistant Choral Director

Oliver Gorton is the Assistant Choral Director of Out of The Box Singers, since May 2025. Originally from Manchester, he is currently studying music at the University of Huddersfield.

Oliver’s choral journey began at the age of eight in a local junior youth choir. He sang in the Hallé Youth Ensembles from 2016 to 2024, further developing his skills whilst performing with some of the finest orchestras in the world. He is currently a Choral Scholar with the internationally renowned Hallé Choir, with whom he has performed alongside orchestras such as the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO), BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, and other leading symphonic choirs, at major festivals including the BBC Proms, and at concert halls across the UK. These ensembles have given him the opportunity to explore a wide range of major symphonic choral repertoire and work closely under the baton of conductors such as Sir Mark Elder, Kahchun Wong, and Ryan Wigglesworth. He also serves as Assistant Conductor of the University of Huddersfield Choir.

Oliver supports Out Of The Box Singers with vocal coaching, sectional rehearsals, and artistic planning. His warm, enthusiastic approach and strong musical leadership make him a valued part of the artistic team.
